The High School Choir and Band will be performing at the Iowa High School Music Association State Large Group Festival on Friday, May 3rd. This year, we'll be heading to West Delaware in Manchester for the event. With a panel of tough judges this year, our performers have been working hard for the challenge. Your support and well wishes would mean the world to them. We would love to see some familiar faces in the audience!

With recent weather, Central's Earth Day activities were postponed to this past Wednesday. Students in grades 7-12 helped with with various projects in the community. Students worked at Motor Mill, Osborne, parks and around the Central Preschool building to clean up trash and groups also worked along local roads to help with ditch cleanup. Thank you to all the supporters who made this possible for our students. #EarthDayEveryDay

Indoor recess can be discouraging for students but playing games like Clue and Spoons with teachers make it more fun! Students also enjoyed building on to their Dojo Islands.

Please join us in celebrating School Board Recognition Month by honoring Central Community School Board Members during the month of May. The board members you see here all work as unpaid volunteers who balance their own careers and families with the demands of overseeing a public school. They work annually to develop the budget to keep our school operational, they set school policies and procedures for the district and they hire and evaluate the superintendent as he manages the district. Please help us in congratulating and thanking each of the board members when you see them! Michael Whittle – Central CSD Board Member since 2015 Jered Finley – Central CSD Board Member since 2017 Jared Funk – Central CSD Board Member since 2021 Courtney Scherf – Central CSD Board Member since 2021 Josh Embretson – Central CSD Board Member since 2021 Marcus Belser – Central CSD Board Member since 2023 Andrew Clark – Central CSD Board Member since 2023

School Principals’ Day is celebrated annually on May 1, to recognize the importance of principals, from elementary to high school, and all the work they do for the betterment of the school. While a student’s job is to work on studying and learning, a teacher’s job is to focus on lessons and teaching their students, school principals here at Central have a lot more on their minds most days. From helping students reach their achievements, managing students, as well as teachers, all while living up to the expectations of parents and guardians, the job school principals endure is often underestimated. They often can be found filling in for teachers and interacting with students, and you just never know what change in their schedules is going to happen. All of these things are done, while constantly working to create a better school for all who enter. Please help us celebrate and acknowledge our administration team here at Central! Thank you, Mr. Trenkamp for all you do for our students, staff members and families. The time and commitment you give to Central is greatly appreciated.

Mr. Brian Ungerer has been chosen as the Secondary 2024 Masonic Teacher of the Year. Mr. Ungerer has worked hard to build positive relationships with students and a great classroom environment. Students routinely comment on the respect they have for Mr. Ungerer and the way he runs his classroom. Mr. Ungerer is often chosen by students to be involved in student activities, including being a guest singer in Chorus class this year. Behind the scenes, Mr. Ungerer has applied for and received multiple grants in recent years that have allowed him to bring new learning experiences to his classroom. These grants have included required learning for him throughout the summer and extra work on his part to complete the requirements. Finally, Mr. Ungerer is always willing to help for the greater good of the group. From driving a bus on short notice, taking tickets, or covering another teachers classroom, Mr. Ungerer is a team player through and through. Congratulations, Mr. Ungerer! We are lucky to have you on our team!!!

Mrs. Jill Stannard has been chosen as one of two Elementary 2024 Masonic Teachers of the Year. Mrs. Stannard has been very active with the elementary assemblies committee. This committee took on the challenge of revamping our assemblies to better engage our elementary students. This past year the CCS committee has brought in a variety of presenters with a common message about Caring, Commitment, and Safety. Mrs. Stannard has also volunteered her time for numerous events throughout the school year, showing her willingness to go above and beyond her normal classroom duties. Congratulations, Mrs. Stannard! We are lucky to have you on our team!!!
