Central Community School offers a welcoming preschool program for students who are 4 years old by September 15th of the school year. Kids learn through hands-on activities that build early academics, social skills, and confidence. We want our students to feel curious, independent, and ready for kindergarten.
Each classroom is led by a state-certified early childhood teacher and supported by a paraeducator. We provide an inclusive setting for students with IEPs, and three-year-olds with IEPs can join the program as well.
Our focus is simple: give every child a positive start and a school experience they’re excited about.

About Central Preschool
School Day
Monday-Thursday, 8:15-3:15. No classes on Friday.
Preschool Building
Our preschoolers attend classes just up the street from the regular school building at 201 Davis Street (behind Leonard-Grau Funeral Home).
Transportation
Regular district transportation provided to our K-12 students will also be provided to our preschool students.
Breakfast/Lunch
School breakfast & lunch will be provided daily to our preschool students. Breakfast is optional as students can eat before they arrive. Free and reduced applications are available at the district office for those that qualify. This is confidential information so please take advantage of this program.
Cost
Due to only being funded half-time by the State of Iowa, there is a need for us to charge for this program. We are currently charging parents $175 a month for the nine months of school for a total cost of $1,575 per student for the school year. This amount is tax deductible and should be far less than what our parents are currently paying for daycare services. We also provide a scholarship program to offset the cost a month for families in need.

Preschool Round Up will be held Friday, May 1st from 9:00am-11:00am. Please bring your child to meet their classmates and teachers! There is a short parent meeting at 9:00am (approximately 30-45 mins) and then you can pick your child up at 11:00!
