Central's 5th graders participated in a guided tour of Effigy Mounds today. They hiked over 2 miles and 350 foot elevation to learn about and experience many different kinds of mounds built by the Native Americans over 1,000 years ago. They learned about the history of Effigy Mounds, Native American groups in Iowa and enjoyed nature at its finest!
Mrs. Stannard brought the monarch butterflies we reared and students tagged them and set them free for their trip to Mexico! It was a great day to be a Central Warrior!!

4th grade has spent the week learning how to navigate dash robots. To end the week, 4th grade students taught the 3rd graders the skills they have learned!

On this very special Friday, Mrs. Joyce Piorkowski had some surprise visitors this morning to help commemorate her last day of work at Central! We are sure going to miss you, Joyce! We wish you all the best!

Central Community students and families- Take a look at the different programs Guttenberg Municipal Hospital and Clinics' Family Resource Center has to offer! We live in such an amazing community that offers these great opportunities to participate in. If you have any questions, please reach out to Heather Lechtenberg at 563-245-1750.

Friday Night Lights this week will take us to Riceville! If you are heading to cheer on our team, be sure to wear your favorite tie dye tee! Go Warriors!!!

Up next for our Central Volleyball teams... Tomorrow night they are headed to Lansing to take on Kee High. If you are heading to the games, make sure to wear your NEON!

Kayla Demmer from FS Fuel Our Future attended Central's volleyball game last night to present to us a check for $1,245. This money comes from FS customers who have the FS FAST Stop card and have Central Community School as their designated school. Central receives 3 cents per gallon from these purchases.
This money is used to support Central’s High School PBIS Program.
Thank you Kayla and FS for the opportunity!
If you have an FS Card and need to add Central, or want to sign up for a card, you can reach out to the Elkader FS office.

Just a friendly reminder Scratch Cupcakes are being delivered on Thursday September 28th! Cupcakes will be ready for pick up starting at 3pm until 4:30pm. Third graders are playing trashketball as they review addition and subtraction strategies. If the team gets the answer correct, one person gets a chance to earn more points by making a trashket. It is a fun way to review and talk strategy.

Today's Homecoming Celebrations started the day off with Class Color Day!
Looks like all grades were well represented too!
Be sure to head down towards the field as the Homecoming Festivities continue with the parade starting at 5:30. There should be lots more color on the field too, as the high school classes have a little fun with Powder Puff competition under the lights, following the parade, pep rally and crowning of this year's royalty! You're not going to want to miss this! See you there!!!

It's a beautiful "Homecoming" Thursday at recess! Friends enjoying each others company! Even Mr. Stramer got some full court basketball in with students!

Please join us Friday at noon for our annual K/1 Homecoming Parade!
