Central students had the opportunity to attend the Clayton County Advanced Manufacturing event yesterday. Students split their day between Pattison Sand Mine and Gencor. At both locations, the students participated in hands-on activities to learn more about skills in the industry. Pattison Sand Mine even had a controlled blast for the students. Thank you to Pattison Sand Mine, Gencor, Northeast Iowa Community College, and Sarah Beaman for providing this opportunity for our students.

Danielle Whittle hosted a petting zoo as her first project for the Independent Agricultural class. Dani's goal was to educate the elementary students on animal safety, the importance of animals, and possibly even how to show the different animals. Before the animals came to school, she went to each classroom K-6 to discuss animal safety. Tim Walz helped his two sons, Owen and Lucus bring in their beef calf and two of their sheep. Jamie Goodrich helped her daughter Crystal bring in their dairy calf. Rob Medberry helped his daughter Mayleigh bring in two of their meat goats. Staci Herman brought in two rabbits, and Brandi Herman brought in her dog Charlie who showed the students some cool tricks he can do! Carter Krugger and Tessa Sylvester also helped with the petting zoo. What a fun morning!

This week is Officials Appreciation Week. We want to take the time to honor the many high school officials who maintain the rules and fair play and that have taken time out of their schedule to officiate events at Central Community School. In addition, we would like to give a special shout-out to these seven employees of Central Community School. They officiated Fall events for our students and gave the opportunity to students in other districts as well. If you are interested in becoming an official, please contact Mr. Aaron Reinhart for details.
