A few months back the Central fifth grade class participated in the flag essay contest. This contest is done yearly and schools across the state of Iowa participate. Each fifth grade student wrote a one page essay describing the history of the flag, what it represents, what it means to them as well as any other information or memories they wanted to include. This contest allows for fifth graders to learn more about the flag as well as gain a deeper appreciation for it. Today the award ceremony was conducted in order to recognize this years top essays. The top four essays for this year's fifth grade class were: 1st place- Jaden 2nd place- Crystal 3rd place- Brandon (not shown in picture) 4th place- Mikayla Congratulations to all!
