Central is getting a lot of attention right now for the Junior High Girls Wrestling Meet we hosted tonight. Take a moment to reflect on what it took to make this happen. A few things that stick out to me: - Mostly (nearly all) male coaches in a male dominated sport taking extra time and making extra efforts to create opportunities for young women. Very cool. - Keep in mind these coaches do not get paid extra for adding more meets and more student-athletes. They are doing it because kids want to do it and need an adult to create the opportunity. - School Administrators making room in budgets to pay for female singlets, transportation for girls meets (like tonight), and other costs associated with new opportunities. - Coaches like Joe Koehn who not only feel that we should give girls their own division in a wrestling meet, but to go further and create an opportunity for them to have their own meet altogether. A LOT of work and communication went into this meet over the past several months. I greeted every coach tonight to thank them for coming and every one of them responded by saying, “no, thank you for having us!” - And of course the student-athletes. I was very impressed with the attitude and effort from all the girls this evening. Great things to come! It’s a great time to be a Central Warrior! - Mr. Reinhart
