Today the entire 8th grade class participated in a career day at Upper Iowa University. This event was a work based learning opportunity and was sponsored by UIU and Northeast Iowa Community College. The students talked with more than 20 businesses to explore potential career opportunities they may not have considered. This day is an extension to work on their Four Year plan. The students reported that they really had fun today.

National Paraprofessional Appreciation Day is celebrated annually on the first Wednesday of April. Here at Central, we are incredibly blessed to have a number of outstanding Paraprofessionals as part of our team. On any given day, you will see our paras in and out of the classroom, providing instructional assistance, administrative support, and so much more in between.
While our students may count with you.... Central teachers count on YOU!!!
When you see any of these valued ladies, please share your thanks and show some appreciation for all the support they provide!

Just a reminder for this week and next!

Both the high school boys and girls track and field meets have been cancelled for tonight.

Central has a Preschool Teacher opening for the 2023-2024 school year.

Testimonial Tuesday - From time to time, we receive parent testimonials who have recently been provided or experienced outstanding guidance and support from our staff. Promoting positive experiences is something we feel should be not only focused on but shared with others. If you have recently had an experience that you feel is worth noting, please email administration and share what positive impact has been made on your student/family.

It's Spell-A-Thon time! Packets were sent home today with important dates, a pledge sheet and your student's spelling list.
Funds raised with the Spell-A-Thon are used for lots of things - field trips, classroom supplies, our new playground equipment - and this year, in addition to all of those things, we have some fun things we'd like to get for our MakerSpace!
Let's make this a great fundraiser!
Please call with any questions - 563-245-1472

For science today, 4th graders spent time outside collecting, observing & discussing different soil samples found around the schoolyard!

The March Student-Athlete of the Month stands out amongst their peers due to their self-motivated approach. The coaches have noted that this student-athlete does not have to be reminded about details of a workout or tasks that need to be completed. Their positive attitude and great work ethic shines through both in athletics and in school where grades and attendance are never an issue. Finally, because they lead by example this student-athlete has been able to hold teammates accountable so far this season. The March Student-Athlete of the Month is Gavin Holst.

The March Fine Arts Student of the Month is someone who wasn’t even on the radar for this recognition in the past. This student has done a great job in past Fine Arts roles, and recently has been a standout in their most recent Fine Arts role. Coaches and teachers have raved about this students attendance, leadership, and ability and willingness to provide sensible suggestions and solutions. This student is willing to ask necessary questions to improve their understanding of what they need to do to maximize their performance. A teacher noted that when asked to do something this student never asks “why?” or “do I have to?”, they embrace the challenge and give their best effort. Finally, the decision to show up every day with a positive attitude is a conscious choice this student has made. The March Fine Arts Student of the Month is Nate Shirbroun.

Since 1983, April has been observed as School Library Month. While school librarians advocate for school libraries twelve months a. year, April is a special time of celebration, advocacy and reflection. Libraries play a very important role in our student’s lives, often considered the main center of our children’s learning and development. These spaces create homes for books, archives and many educational resources. This is a great time to recognize and support the educators that keep our libraries at Central operating. Thank you Mrs. Healy, Ms. French and Mrs. Klingman for all you do!

20 high school and 5 middle school artworks are selected and entered into the Upper Iowa Conference virtual art show! Online judging of different categories will take place next week. Best of luck to our student participants.

Today, eight 5th thru 7th grade students are spending the day at Iowa State University for the Midwest Children's Choir Festival. Congratulations Samual, Macie, Zane, Lukas, Collin, Breckon, Reese and Kristy!
