The past few years we have put a heavy emphasis on building stronger relationships at Central. Our next step in doing so is to tell you a little about ourselves! Each week you will see posts highlighting a team member. Feel free to comment to tell us what we have in common! Please say hello to Mrs. Zittergruen!

Third graders have been busy learning about fractions and how they work on a number line. Students then drew beanstalks with leaves and practiced measuring their sizes to the nearest quarter inch with a ruler and tape measure. They also practiced measuring to the nearest eighth of an inch.

The Knights of Columbus have been contributing to the Central Special Education department for the past several years. With their Tootsie Roll Drives, they help fund supplies for the department, including wobble chairs, wireless keyboards, fidgets and other items that may be helpful for the students. A banquet was recently held at St. Joseph Parish Hall, where the Knights presented a check for $500 to Central's Special Education teacher, Joan Frieden. Thank you Knights of Columbus for your continued support!

The elementary art program is starting a year-long, rotational, art display for the residents at Elkader’s nursing home and assisted living center. Featured first, are these birch tree beauties created by the 2nd grade classes. We hope they love their new scenery.

National School Counseling Week is February 6-10, 2023. This is a week set aside to focus public attention on the unique contribution our school counselors make in the lives of our students. National School Counseling Week highlights the tremendous impact school counselors can have in helping our students in a multitude of areas. While working in a partnership with parents and other educators, they help our students work through challenges they may encounter, while focusing on their abilities, strengths, interests and talents. Counselors wear many hats and helping guide and assist our students during their high school careers is one of the best gifts we can give our students as they near graduation.
We are so thankful for our school counselors, Mrs. Heather Lechtenberg and Mrs. Angie Bergan. School counselors make a difference! Please be sure when you see them, to give them a BIG THANK YOU for all they continue to do for us here at Central!
