Congratulations to the February Student Athletes of the Month sponsored by Brown's Sale & Leasing.
The February male student-athlete of the month is a person who is not limited to a certain position on the team. When he was needed to move to a different position on the court this year, he took on the challenge with energy and enthusiasm. At the beginning of this season he did not dress varsity but due to his daily approach that allowed for continuous improvement, he was a contributing member to the varsity team at the end of the season. Additionally, his positive attitude resulted in a positive leadership role throughout the season, leading by example and verbally. His coaches described him as a teammate that never points fingers when things go wrong, and while his physical skills have brought him success, his individual character is what made the success possible. The February Male Student-Athlete of the Month is Elliott Kelly.
The February female student-athlete of the month is described as a person who works very hard in practice and in games. Her coaches commented on her aggressive approach and how the team has benefited from her attitude. Her love of the defensive side of basketball has resulted in many turnovers for opponents this season. Additionally, her hard work has allowed her to improve her offensive skills in many ways. Her coaches attribute all of this improvement and success to the attitude she chooses to have each day. She is willing to learn from coaches and those around her. In summary, this young woman has put in the appropriate time and effort that is necessary to be successful. The February Female Student-Athlete of the Month is Gracie Cummer.
