Tonight's girls track & field meet at Dubuque has been cancelled due to the weather forecast.

For those that may not be familiar with Mrs. Heather Lechtenberg… Meet Central’s School Social Worker. An integral link between school and home, Mrs. Lechtenberg is here to help our Central Warriors as they work through whatever obstacles they may encounter. An essential part of our students’ well-being, she checks in daily, keeping ongoing conversations, encouraging, supporting and providing guidance in a multitude of areas. While working with parents, teachers, administrators and outside agencies are a large part of her day, it’s clear to see where her heart is, and our students are incredibly lucky to have her on our team. Thank you, Mrs. Lechtenberg for all you do!

Hey Central Baseball Fans, War Eagle baseball store is now open!

Always a pleasure having Annie Palas visit us in the art room for “Workshop Wednesday”! Her architectural design work is amazing and the students got to dabble in the design program too. It’s so wonderful to see first hand, how art and creativity can be applied to real world careers and experiences.

Next week is Parent Teacher Conference week! Here is a look at our schedule of the week. Make sure you have scheduled conferences with your child's teacher(s) through JMC, or call the office for help. Detailed instructions have been sent out through email.

Congratulations to Central band student Samuel Belser for being selected to play in the Young Musicians Honor Band in Cedar Rapids on February 18th. He had a full day of rehearsals and making friends with other first year band students in the area. The night ended with a wonderful concert!

A good breakfast can make or break your day! It looks like these students know how to get their day started off on the right track!

The past few years we have put a heavy emphasis on building stronger relationships at Central. Our next step in doing so is to tell you a little about ourselves! Each week you will see posts highlighting a team member. Feel free to comment to tell us what we have in common! Please give a big hello to Mr. Zurbriggen!

We all know how important starting our day off with a healthy breakfast can be. National School Breakfast Week starts today and focuses on the value of nutritious school breakfasts fueling our students for a day of success. This year's theme for #NSBW23 is "Dig Into School Breakfast" and we hope to catch some of our Central students digging into some of their favorite breakfast options this week! Stay tuned...

National School Social Work Week is held the first full week of March each year. This is a week to celebrate and show appreciation to our school social workers across the area. As parents, teachers, administrators and educators, we truly appreciate all the time and energy they give to our students helping them work to be their best, do their best and achieve academic success. School Social workers face each day, ready to help our students with any mental or behavioral challenges they may be facing, while providing academic and classroom support. They truly advocate for our children!
THANK YOU School Social Workers!!!

The Fine Arts Department is looking for some items and hoping you can help. Does anyone have a cheese head we could borrow? You will get it back.
We also need several pool noodles. These may be cut to different sizes, so this would be a donation. If you have any of these items, please contact director Carolyn Yanda at cyanda@central.k12.ia.us

Congratulations!!!

Congratulations!!!

Thank you to Peggy Schilling from the Extension Office for leading Jr. achievement for Mrs. Wiley's 1st graders.

Loving how these 3rd grade, Picasso inspired, digitally rendered, self-portraits turned out! They’re our next featured display at the nursing home for the month of March!

Rehearsals are underway for Central's presentation of "The SpongeBob Musical - Youth Edition." Make plans to see the cast on stage with performances scheduled Friday, March 31st and Saturday, April 1st at 7:30pm or Sunday, March 2nd at 2pm!

A BIG Thanks to all who helped with this morning's FFA Staff Appreciation Breakfast. We had 27 FFA members serve up a great start to the day to almost 60 of our staff!

The elementary students LOVE when Faith comes for story time! Thank you, Faith Blascovich!

Central Community NHS hosted a blood drive for the American Red Cross. Our goal was set to collect 60 units during today’s drive. We were fortunate to fill every appointment offered and ended up collecting 66 units of blood from our generous donors, including Central staff, students and local community members! Thank you to everyone that helped make it happen and BIG THANKS for the Gift of Life!
