Yesterday, Central held the 7-12 Worthy Wednesday Assembly.
**Our Price is Right game show winner was the 7th grade class. They won a swimming party at Bearfoot Bay in Prairie du Chein, at the end of the month.
**We had lots of Worthy Warrior nominations for positive behavior this past month and the three grade level earners pictured are:
Junior - Gavin Holst
Sophomore - Maci Keppler
7th Grader - Owen Thompson
**As we head into the home stretch of our school year, days tend to get busier and can seem more stressful at times. With May being Mental Health Awareness Month we decided to take a moment to address just that. Gracie Kennicker was a very influential guest speaker who stood before her peers to spread light and awareness. We closed our assembly with a resource panel of three, knowledgeable professionals from the mental health field and greatly appreciate their time, valuable information and support.

The March Student-Athlete of the month is perhaps best known amongst coaches and teammates as someone with 100% passion for the sport. On a daily basis they approach practices and meets with an excitement that is hard to miss and is contagious. This student-athlete displays , at a very high level, nearly every single block associated with our Road To Athleticism bridge model. They also have the rare desire to try to do all of the little things that eventually lead to bigger things. And because of that attention to detail she had the thrill of executing a textbook handoff with her teammate at a recent meet! The March Student-Athlete of the Month is Staci Herman.

The March Fine Arts Student of the Month is someone who does not ride on natural talent alone. Teachers and coaches commented on all of the extra time this student has put in to developing their skill set and performance abilities. When asked to meet just twice a week, this student requested to meet every day, sometimes twice a day. The student listened to every suggestion and critique and implemented changes needed. All of the hard work paid off with an all-state nomination. The March Fine Arts Student of the Month is Keeley Curran.

Last night the Central Torch Chapter of the National Honor Society held their Induction Ceremony. Central’s chapter recognized 5 students who demonstrated their qualities of scholarship, leadership, service, and character. The inductees are Ashlyn Scherf, Reese Berns, Tori Sylvester, Vaughn Zittergruen, and Layla Embretson. The guest speaker was Ann Gibney. As a past Central teacher, Ann gave a very memorable speech about what TGIF really means and gave a pop quiz at the end of her speech to review with the new inductees what they learned about TGIF. Thank you Mrs. Gibney for spending the evening with us and Congratulations to all the new NHS members!

Mr. Wiley and these four Central Seniors received the Carrie Chapman Catt Award today from Secretary of State Paul Pate. They were able to tour the capitol and even got a chance to see Governor Reynolds sign a bill into law. They also toured and sat in the Speaker’s chair of the House chambers.
In 2019, Secretary of State Paul Pate kicked off a new voter registration initiative aimed at Iowa high school students. Every school in Iowa that signs up and registers at least 90% of their eligible students to vote received the Carrie Chapman Catt Award. This is the third consecutive year that Mr. Wiley has received this award and recognition. Nice work, Warriors!
