#ClaytonCountyBEST students, Dani Whittle and Allison White, have partnered with the George Maier Rural Heritage Center to create a museum display about dairy farming in Clayton County. Dani Whittle met with her grandpa, Tom Whittle and Heritage Center representative, Roger Thomas this week to look at what the museum has. If you have old dairy equipment, manuals or photos of milking barns you would like a new home for or would be willing to loan please contact 23whid@central.k12.ia.us or call the school. We are looking for Shotgun Buckets (see picture below) in particular. The Rural Heritage Museum has a large collection of artifacts from the Clayton County area including agricultural and household items located in the old sale barn near the Elkader City Park.

The past few years we have put a heavy emphasis on building stronger relationships at Central. Our next step in doing so is to tell you a little about ourselves! Each week you will see posts highlighting a team member. Feel free to comment to tell us what we have in common! A lady of many hats, please make sure to let Mrs. Walch know how happy we are to have her here!

Public Schools Weeks is February 27 – March 3, 2023. This is a week set aside to celebrate public schools and the administrators, teachers, parents and the school board members who work diligently for our students. This is an excellent time to reach out to your community, local businesses and lawmakers to discuss the continued importance of public education. Research shows that communities and parents that are actively engaged and supportive of their local public schools and educators, add tremendous strength in the overall success and education of their students in an ever-changing and diverse world. From parents, to teachers, to community leaders, providing a safe, healthy, learning environment is a large group effort and the saying “It takes a village” couldn’t be a better description. We are incredibly proud of the village we have here at Central. We invite you to get involved in celebrating Central Community and the educators that are committed to serving our kids! Please share below something positive you feel that Central is doing to help make a difference in the lives of your families! Whether it be a photo you’ve captured, something a teacher has done, or whatever it may be that has made an impact on your son or daughter, please help us showcase all the great things happening here at Central! #PSW23

Today is National Bus Driver Appreciation Day and here at Central, it's easy to say, we have some of the BEST! Thank you to the many employees that help transport our students safely to and from school and all of our student activities. We appreciate the training, professionalism and care you take for our most precious cargo. A special thanks to our transportation director and route drivers that continue to go above and beyond on a daily basis, keeping the safety of the kids stepping on and off your buses a top priority. On an average day, our drivers log over 450 miles as they pick up and deliver Central students. Please help us celebrate our drivers and share below a special story and/or memory that you have had with any of our drivers.

Central Graduates, we need your help! The Class of 2023 is looking to collect a few more graduation robes to reuse rather than purchasing new robes each year. Robes will continued to be stored and reused each year at the school. If you are able to help, please let us know. Any gently used graduation gowns may be dropped off at the district office at your earliest convenience. Thank you for your cooperation in helping us be thrifty and environmentally friendly as we look to celebrate this year's graduating class!
