These programs allow us to recognize one Student-Athlete and one Fine Arts student for individual character and habits that lead to success and thank you to Beth Rentschler, Director of High School Partnerships, for attending our monthly assembly.
The September Student-Athlete of the Month is recognized for her commitment to preparing for the season this summer when they attended workouts and worked hard to get more teammates to come. Coaches have shared this person was instrumental in getting enough involvement to participate in summer opportunities. Leadership in practice and competitions, individual skill improvement, and being a positive teammate are all qualities they are known for. Even though this student has a job they work at very regularly, they have never missed a practice or competition due to work. The September Student-Athlete of the Month is Aly Feickert.

The October Fine Arts Student of the Month has been nominated for their dedication to always going above and beyond their role to benefit the entire group. They are always willing to help wherever help is needed. This student is organized, on time, hard-working and focused. This student also exhibits a positive attitude throughout all activities they are a part of. Adults have noticed that when other students do not do their part this student jumps in to do extra with no hesitation. The October Fine Arts Student of the Month is Beth Wilwert.

The August Student-Athlete of the Month is recognized for their hard work and dedication to the activities they are involved in. This person is known for being extremely kind to teammates and goal oriented. Coaches have described her as “the trademark of how to become a better athlete.” It is these qualities, not simply natural skill or ability, that have allowed her to be recognized as one of the best Cross Country runners in the state today at the state meet. The August Student-Athlete of the Month is Jaydin Dettman.


For Red Ribbon Week Central students grades 6-12 participated in an essay contest- "Celebrate Life Live Drug Free". The winners were 1st place Blair, 7th grade, 2nd place Lathen, 6th grade; and 3rd place Marissa, 10th grade.

For Red Ribbon Week, Adam Sadewasser from Clayton County Substance Abuse Services educated elementary and high school students about the effects of using drugs and alcohol.

Central Student Council members spent their morning cleaning up their portion of roadside for Iowa's Adopt A Highway Program!
Thank you to these students for doing your part to keep our roadsides picked up!




Elizabeth Blake from Clayton County Farm Bureau shared another lesson with 4th graders today about why hogs live in barns. The students got to design and build their own hog barns from marshmallows and spaghetti! They played a game of Kahoot to test their knowledge about hogs!





Members of Central FFA toured the Indianapolis Motor Speedway today as a part of their National FFA Convention trip.

Central Community Scholarship Foundation received a $1,500.00 check from Upper Mississippi Gaming Corporation UMGC. The CCSF provides scholarship opportunities to graduating seniors. Each senior who fills out the application will receive a base scholarship of $500.00 ($100.00 comes from UMGC). The Central Community Scholarship Foundation board would like to thank Upper Mississippi Gaming Corporation for this award.

Second and fifth graders had their first Book Buddies meeting to get to know each other while they colored Halloween pictures.

If your child would like to participate in the costume parade, please send their costume with them to school on Friday morning in a bag marked clearly with their name.
