Happy Teacher Appreciation Week! There's not enough that can be said or done to truly let our teachers know how much we appreciate them, but let's start with some kind messages!
We encourage you to reach out to your teachers, your kids' teachers, past and present and let them know the difference they have made in your life. Or just some encouraging words to boost their day! Emails, cards, letters or even leaving a comment here are all great ways to tell our teachers THANK YOU!

Another great group of 1st-6th graders showed up today at Maquoketa Valley for a very cold youth track meet.

The Central Promenade will be in the auditorium today, starting at 5:15 PM. The doors will open at 4:30 PM.

Congratulations to Daniel Royer on taking first place out of thirty-two welders from sixteen different schools at the Kirkwood Welding Contest. Lane and Daniel competed in GMAW, and SMAW welding processes, toured the Kirkwood welding facility, and met with several manufacturers in a career fair setting.

In honor of Arbor Day, fourth graders planted an oak tree today with Kenny Slocum. They also each received red oak seedlings to take home to plant.

Central’s art department has partnered with The Collective gallery downtown, Elkader, for “First Friday”! Stroll the shops and be sure to stop in to browse work created by our talented, high school artists. Viewing open to the public May 6th and 7th!

Thank you to Dr. Ryan Royer for stopping by Mrs. Bond's Animal Science class to teach students more about animal reproduction.

Tonight's golf meet and boys track & field meet will run as scheduled. The girls track & field meet at MFL MarMac will start at 4:30 but all field events have been canceled.

April from Upper Exploreland’s Safe Routes to School came to talk to 2nd grade today about bike safety. She also gave a helmet to any 2nd grader that needed one. Thank you, April!

Congratulations, Evan, on continuing your academic career and signing your letter of intent to play football at Central College next year!

The decision to hold the promenade at Osborne or in the Central auditorium will be made at 10:00 AM Saturday. A text message and social media post will be sent out to inform everyone.
See you all at 5:15 on Saturday!

5th graders picked up garbage and piled up dead trees/sticks today to help the areas by our playground look cleaner. Thanks for all of your hard work!

The April Student-Athlete of the Month is described by coaches as, “the epitome of the student-athlete whose actions speak louder than any words ever could.” The coach goes on to say, “there is not a day that goes by, whether in practice, in a meet, in the classroom, hallways…or at any school event, that this person cannot be found displaying countless characteristics of the ultimate student-athlete. Their commitment to the team is evident in that they have not missed a single practice this season. This student-athlete is extremely humble, never gives less than 100% effort, never questions the role they need to play, and can be trusted to deliver in every circumstance. As the person presenting this award, and the Principal of the building, I will add that this student-athlete is as consistent in their approach as any student I have worked with. The April Student-Athlete of the Month is Kaitlyn Wiley.
Thank you again to Brown’s Family of Car Dealership for supporting our student-of-the-month program. These programs allow us to recognize one Student-Athlete and one Fine Arts student for individual character and habits that lead to success.

Congratulations to eight of our 5/6 Chorus members on representing Central tonight at the NEICDA 5/6 Honor Choir in Oelwein. This event last took place in 2019 and we are glad this unforgettable experience started up again. These eight worked hard all day and greatly deserved this honor. Several of them also earned speaking parts and solo parts in their choir’s songs. Congratulations on an outstanding day and performance! Keep making music!

The April Fine Arts Student of the Month is a student who has a great positive attitude. This attitude is displayed not just during Fine Arts events, but in all aspects of school. This student is described by teachers and coaches as someone who always does her best. Numerous examples have been given where this student has been willing to help the team with any problem needing solved, or any task needing completed. Simply put, this student makes the team better when she is there. The April Fine Arts Student of the Month is Rebecca Suhr.
