The 1st graders had a visit from Abby from Osborne to talk about Owls! They learned about different types of owls and their sounds as well as how far an Owl can turn their necks!

Kindergarten students predicted how full their cup would be before counting as they dropped water in!
We found out 100 drops isn’t very much at all!
Tickets will go on sale at 9:00 am for the District wrestling meet at Denver on Saturday. The doors will open at 11:00 and the meet will start at 12:00. Denver is allowing unlimited fans so come cheer on Brandon as he hopes to punch his ticket to state!

Jazz Central performed for the IHSMA Jazz Choir Festival at Maquoketa Valley-Delhi, where they earned a Div. 2, "Excellent" Rating. They were able to work with clinicians after their performance and learn several ensemble aspects to refine and improve their sound, style, and performance. This is only the 2nd year for Jazz Central and it has already grown in size and challenging repertoire. We will continue to build and grow their jazz skills for future performances, including the upcoming Variety Show this weekend!
Central Community FFA met their local legislators today, toured the Capitol, and advocated for agriculture education and FFA!
The Central LG Speech Team competed at the State Contest in Postville today. They worked hard over the last two weeks since Districts to better prepare their performances. They all performed with excellence today and all 7 groups received an Overall 1 ("Excellent") rating! 4 groups received straight 1's, where each judge gave them an "Excellent" rating. The team consists of 4 seniors, 6 juniors, 4 sophomores, and 2 freshmen. Congratulations to the LG Speech Team on this fantastic achievement!
Today at the Sectional Wrestling Meet the host school, MFL MarMac, voluntarily donated all the money from program sales - $840 total - to the Central family who lost their home yesterday in a house fire. A huge thank you to MFL MarMac for their generosity, along with all of the contributions and support from the other schools in attendance; Starmont, Wapsie Valley, Edgewood-Colesburg, Denver, Postville, and Sumner-Fredricksburg.
