Students are working hard right now establishing their SAE (Supervised Agricultural Experience) projects. These projects lead to the student having the ability to apply for proficiency awards and earn the various degrees within the chapter and beyond. The members can continue their FFA journey by becoming Greenhand and Chapter degree recipients. This could also lead to the Iowa and American FFA degrees as well. Meet Tristan Weigand, along with other fellow FFA members Daniel Royer and Nate Shirbroun, (not pictured) are beginning a tractor restoration project for fair.

Congratulations to the February Student Athletes of the Month sponsored by Brown's Sale & Leasing. The February male student-athlete of the month is a person who is not limited to a certain position on the team. When he was needed to move to a different position on the court this year, he took on the challenge with energy and enthusiasm. At the beginning of this season he did not dress varsity but due to his daily approach that allowed for continuous improvement, he was a contributing member to the varsity team at the end of the season. Additionally, his positive attitude resulted in a positive leadership role throughout the season, leading by example and verbally. His coaches described him as a teammate that never points fingers when things go wrong, and while his physical skills have brought him success, his individual character is what made the success possible. The February Male Student-Athlete of the Month is Elliott Kelly. The February female student-athlete of the month is described as a person who works very hard in practice and in games. Her coaches commented on her aggressive approach and how the team has benefited from her attitude. Her love of the defensive side of basketball has resulted in many turnovers for opponents this season. Additionally, her hard work has allowed her to improve her offensive skills in many ways. Her coaches attribute all of this improvement and success to the attitude she chooses to have each day. She is willing to learn from coaches and those around her. In summary, this young woman has put in the appropriate time and effort that is necessary to be successful. The February Female Student-Athlete of the Month is Gracie Cummer.

Students are working hard right now establishing their SAE (Supervised Agricultural Experience) projects. These projects lead to the student having the ability to apply for proficiency awards and earn the various degrees within the chapter and beyond. Due to the eighth graders taking an agricultural education course, they can begin their FFA journey then. The members can continue their FFA journey by becoming Greenhand and Chapter degree recipients. This could also lead to the Iowa and American FFA degrees as well. Meet Jordan, he is shown assisting in a farm machinery auction. He works for his family's business, Joel's Tractors and Auction and has started to buy and sell equipment as an entrepreneurship project.

This year National FFA week kicks off on February 20th and culminates on February 27th. National FFA Week always runs Saturday to Saturday and encompasses February 22nd, George Washington’s birthday. The National FFA Board of Directors designated the week long tradition, which began in 1948, in recognition of Washington’s legacy as an agriculturist and farmer. A group of young farmers founded FFA in 1928, and the organization has been influencing generations that agriculture is more than planting and harvesting — it involves science, business and more. More than 760,000 FFA members across the country will share the story of agriculture as part of National FFA Week. How will Central Community FFA members celebrate their National FFA week? FFA members have been working tirelessly planning a great week of celebrating FFA. Activities range from dress up days, appreciation breakfast for school employees, and agriculture olympics. On Tuesday, Central will be sending thirteen members to participate in leadership career development events. Enjoy as we share National FFA week with you!
