Central Community, the learning for this week has been updated on the Central Continuous Learning Site: https://sites.google.com/central.k12.ia.us/centralonlinelearning/home

Central Warriors,
Governor Reynolds just announced schools will be closed for the rest of the 2019/2020 school year. As an educator I can't tell you how hard this pulls on our hearts as we look forward to closure with our students that a typical end of the school year brings. This year, we will not get that.
With this announcement I know there are more questions than answers (prom, graduation, required learning, summer school, etc.). Mr. Reinhart and I will be reviewing the new guidance to schools beginning Monday and will work as quickly as we can to provide you with a plan to address these questions and more.
The Central PreK Building, K-12 Building, and all sports facilities will remain closed through April 30 due to new guidance for Region 6. Limited staff will be allowed into the building and the district office will no longer maintain regular hours. The best form of communication will now be email.
To our seniors, I know it may not seem like it now but COVID-19 is something that will make you stronger and more passionate about what is truly important in life. Someday you will be able to tell the story of your senior year to your kids and grandkids, and what a story it will be!
Central Community thank you for your support and patience during these times. Please follow the State guidance and stay safe. More information will be coming soon. --Mr. Trenkamp

PK-6th Grade Parents,
Central elementary is working on a plan to provide weekly education opportunities to our students. This week your teachers will be contacting you to share their office hours, communications method, as well as collect information about your internet accessibility. The district office will work directly with families who do not have internet access. I am also working on a plan to get materials, including iPads to every elementary student. A formal letter of our plan will be coming later this week.
As always, thank you for your support and patience during these unprecedented times. -Mr. Trenkamp .

I know we have provided many resources, but I wanted to specifically highlight some for mental health for anyone who may be having a hard time -Mrs. Cobie-Nuss

Next week is Virtual Spirit Week!

The 7-12 teachers held their regularly scheduled staff meeting virtually this morning.

Central has a few items that are no longer needed and we have set them out by the old bus barn below the school.
No holds, if interested please stop down and pick them up.

Resources from Please Pass the Love for students of all ages can be found here: https://www.pleasepassthelove.org/covid-19-resources
There's virtual story time for elementary kids, art sharing, coping skills groups, and virtual support groups for teens who just want to talk.

Central Community,
Clayton County has it's first confirmed COVID-19 case. Due to this I am shutting all of our facilities down to non-essential workers and visitors. This includes our athletic facilities and playground. I am working directly with the Elkader Police Department and they will be enforcing this order. The district office will remain open at this time but we will not allow any visitors who do not have an approved appointment.
Please talk with your kids about the importance of self-isolation. I am hearing a lot of reports about our students getting together, this puts everyone at risk.
More information will come as I receive it. Thank you for your understanding and ongoing support. Together we will get through this!
-Mr. Trenkamp
