Just one day doesn’t seem like quite enough time to express our thanks and gratitude for Central’s School Nurse, Mrs. Meghan Bergan. On any given day, Nurse Meghan can be found with an office full of kiddos needing a “little something” from her! From giving out band-aids, to hugs, providing a quiet place to rest… and reassuring conversations, the school nurse fills many roles throughout the school day. Nurse Meghan’s caring nature and gentle bedside manner are top notch and make her office also a “favorite” spot for many Central students! Happy School Nurses’ Day to one of Central’s Favorites!!! Thank you, Nurse Meghan for all that you do to help keep our students, staff and school healthy and safe! We appreciate you!!!

The May Student-Athlete of the month is described by coaches as a very quiet student-athlete who decided she was going to go all in on improvement this year. They pushed themselves out of their comfort zone all season, resulting in steady improvement and success. This student-athlete listened to coaches who believed in her, working on small details that can make a big difference. This student-athlete put the team before themself several times this season when relays needed another person immediately. All of these daily habits of success led to 10 PRs for them. The May Student-Athlete of the month is Coral Rork.

The April Student-Athlete of the month is described as someone who ‘stepped up to the plate without hesitation several times this season.’ This student-athlete took on events they had not practiced for, putting themselves in a position with a lot of pressure and potential for mistake, but did so because it was best for the team. Putting individual interests aside and doing what was best for the team was the theme for this student-athlete all season - culminating at the Conference Meet when they were put into the Shuttle Hurdle Relay, a highly technical race requiring a lot of preparation for most student-athletes. This ‘team before me’ attitude allowed her to have their most successful season with 9 PR’s in events ranging from the 100 to the 1500 and including hurdles and high jump. The April Student-Athlete of the Month is Alexis Thiese.

Today, our CCS Assembly Ticket Winners were treated to a trip to Moyna's Earthmoving Legacy Center. What a treat for our students to be able to visit and tour so many local businesses. Thanks to Ryan Young and the staff that helped make this opportunity possible!

Today local businesses conducted mock interviews with Central's Pre-Employment class. These students have been creating resumes and practicing for the mock interviews for a few weeks. They did a wonderful job and we appreciate the support from the community! Thank you to all who helped this morning!!!

This past Saturday, these six athletes left the school at 4:45 am to compete at the Mike Henderson Middle School State Track & Field Meet in Waukee, Iowa. It was a long day and the weather was less than perfect, but that didn’t stop these students from participating in a great day of events! Nice job, Warriors!

Educators have one of the most important but difficult jobs in the world. Second to parents and guardians, teachers spend a good majority of time with our kids. Some days, these same teachers are the first to say good morning, the first to notice what a child may need or may be missing, the first to provide comfort, and many of these teachers leave a mark in the lives of their students that never gets forgotten. Everyone who looks back at their childhood, their school days and their education, it's not usually the methods or lessons they remember, but the TEACHERS! Teachers are the heart of the education system and we are so incredibly thankful for our tribe here at Central! "It's the teacher that makes the difference, not the classroom." - Michael Morpurgo Teacher Appreciation Week kicks off today and this is the perfect time to show teachers and educators how much we value the time they give to our families. Please take some time over the next few days to let your favorite teachers know how much they mean to your student(s) and family. Whether it's a simple thank you, a high five, or a note of gratitude, please let your teachers know that we are thinking of them, most especially this week. #TeacherAppreciationWeek2024

2nd graders have been busy building towers in science! We have been talking about solids and what would make a structure solid and strong. Then they tested their towers out to see if they would withstand in the wind!
