The February Fine Arts Student of the Month is described as a student who “never has a negative attitude and always works hard.” In addition to working hard, this student is very reliable, accepts critiques from adults, and works to implement those suggestions to improve. Recent performances at District Speech were the best performances of their career, qualifying them to State Speech. Finally, in the 6 years I have been at Central, nobody has sung more National Anthems solo than this young man! The February Fine Arts Student of the Month is Maxwell Schantz.

The February Student-Athlete of the Month is described as someone who has put the time into other sports during the offseason, as well as an emphasis on the weight room, allowing them to show up to the first practice in good physical condition. Coaches described this student-athlete as someone who, “gives their best effort all of the time, whether it is a practice drill or a game. They are consistently early to practice and open gyms, as well as the first person done when the team does sprints.” This student-athlete is known for making big plays during the biggest moments of close games this season. Their team first attitude has stood out all season, whether it be playing JV or Varsity games, this student-athlete is always willing to do what is best for the team. Intrinsic motivation, understanding what it truly takes to be great, and a commitment to that process has put this student-athlete in a position to be successful. The February Student-Athlete of the Month is Owen Hammersland.

This year, Central's 7-12 assemblies have a heavy emphasis about being WORTHY! Finding and appreciating the value within ourselves and others.
March's "Worthy Wednesday" assembly theme was about "March into Motivation" and learning about Enneagrams [personality types] to gain a better understanding of your areas of weakness to help you take advantage of and utilize your strengths as we head into the home stretch of our school year for a strong finish!
The senior class was our "Price is Right" game show prize winners for some extra fun and activities at school which include: an ice cream social, Pedretti's before class, being 1st to lunch for the whole month, and ending the month with a trip to the Elkader Cinema for a movie showing.
Our 3 worthy warrior winners are pictured here!
These students regularly follow and act according to Central's CCS [Caring, Committed, Safety] guidelines for making positive choices. Throughout the month, they are nominated by teachers and from the list of nominations, 1 winner is randomly selected from each grade category. The 3 winning students receive a prize package for their excellence, and every student on the list receives a piece of "Werther's" candy and a WORTHY sticker.
