Central’s Honors Diploma has both academic and experiential requirements, as well as a Senior Presentation. Academic requirements include core content classes, proficiency testing/GPA, and concentration in a specific area. Students must complete 9 of 12 listed experiential requirements that include attendance, work experiences, extracurricular involvement, leadership, and registering to vote. The Senior Presentation is a 15-minute presentation that highlights the student’s time at Central, what they learned, and how this has prepared them for their future goals. Congratulations to this year's 2024 Central's Honors Diploma Recipient, Peyton Finley!

With so many end-of-the-school year events happening, don't forget about the Central Athletic Banquet tomorrow evening at Johnson's. This night is set aside to recognize Central's student athletes and we have been fortunate to secure Don Showalter as the guest speaker for the event. This is a night you do not want to miss! See you there!!

Central 6th graders are on the final stretch of our Tiny House Unit. Students drew a floor plan with a scale of 1cm = 1ft. including placement of needed items. Then took a great online shopping trip to purchase the needed supplies. Lots of fun items were found! Checking that the demensions of the item bought fits the area on their plan. Students kept track of their purchases on Google Sheets with formulas. Now the fun begins. Creating a 3D model of the house they designed. Students learned that changed might need to be made on the plans.

Central CSD is pleased to announce that seven seniors have been awarded the Seal of Biliteracy. To receive the Seal of Biliteracy, students must show proficiency in English (this can be done on ISASP during their junior year or the ACT). They must then show a proficiency in Spanish in all 4 domains: Reading, Writing, Listening and Speaking. When testing, they must receive at least the level of Intermediate 2 in all four domains to pass. Pictured here with Central Spanish Teacher, Mrs. Kelly Erickson, are this year's Seal of Biliteracy Recipients: Marcus Evans, Caitlyn Druecker, Peyton Finley, Mackayla Vlazny, Jaydin Dettman, Elizabeth Royer and Makayla Erickson. This honor does not come easy! To learn more about what Iowa students must go through to obtain the Seal of Biliteracy, please visit: https://youtu.be/t1juwLfRnjs?feature=shared Congratulations to Central's Seal of Biliteracy Recipients!!! The countdown is getting real, as today marks Central Seniors very last Wednesday of high school. Mrs. Patenaude kicked off their day with breakfast in her classroom. And Mrs. Keppler may have made a few of them dance before letting them into the school building today too! We're going to truly miss this group of students!!! And a BIG THANKS to Jody Schroeder and The Brim for providing Cold Brew Coffee for the Class of 2024! Coffee is always a hit around here!!!

The Kindergarten and 1st grade had a great field trip today at the Driftless Wetlands Centre. The kids enjoyed playing in the mud kitchen, catching insects, dipping nets for creatures in the wetlands, and learning about different animals that live in the wetlands.
