The April Student-Athlete of the Month is described by coaches as, “the epitome of the student-athlete whose actions speak louder than any words ever could.” The coach goes on to say, “there is not a day that goes by, whether in practice, in a meet, in the classroom, hallways…or at any school event, that this person cannot be found displaying countless characteristics of the ultimate student-athlete. Their commitment to the team is evident in that they have not missed a single practice this season. This student-athlete is extremely humble, never gives less than 100% effort, never questions the role they need to play, and can be trusted to deliver in every circumstance. As the person presenting this award, and the Principal of the building, I will add that this student-athlete is as consistent in their approach as any student I have worked with. The April Student-Athlete of the Month is Kaitlyn Wiley. Thank you again to Brown’s Family of Car Dealership for supporting our student-of-the-month program. These programs allow us to recognize one Student-Athlete and one Fine Arts student for individual character and habits that lead to success.

Congratulations to eight of our 5/6 Chorus members on representing Central tonight at the NEICDA 5/6 Honor Choir in Oelwein. This event last took place in 2019 and we are glad this unforgettable experience started up again. These eight worked hard all day and greatly deserved this honor. Several of them also earned speaking parts and solo parts in their choir’s songs. Congratulations on an outstanding day and performance! Keep making music!

The April Fine Arts Student of the Month is a student who has a great positive attitude. This attitude is displayed not just during Fine Arts events, but in all aspects of school. This student is described by teachers and coaches as someone who always does her best. Numerous examples have been given where this student has been willing to help the team with any problem needing solved, or any task needing completed. Simply put, this student makes the team better when she is there. The April Fine Arts Student of the Month is Rebecca Suhr. Thank you again to Brown’s Family of Car Dealership for supporting our student-of-the-month program. These programs allow us to recognize one Student-Athlete and one Fine Arts student for individual character and habits that lead to success.

HS Solo/Ensemble students performed for Band, Chorus, and Piano on April 9th at Don Bosco High School. They performed admirably, learned a lot after two years without an in-person festival, and gave some wonderful performances. Overall the day included student solos and ensembles receiving four Division 1: Superior ratings, nine Division 2 ratings, and four Division 3: Good ratings. Below, you will see a collage of some of their performances and our music seniors that participated in the festival. Some of these student solos and ensembles will perform at the Music Awards Night / Spring Concert on Tuesday, May 10th. We hope to see you there as well!
