The Central LG Speech Team competed at the State Contest in Postville today. They worked hard over the last two weeks since Districts to better prepare their performances. They all performed with excellence today and all 7 groups received an Overall 1 ("Excellent") rating! 4 groups received straight 1's, where each judge gave them an "Excellent" rating. The team consists of 4 seniors, 6 juniors, 4 sophomores, and 2 freshmen. Congratulations to the LG Speech Team on this fantastic achievement!

Today at the Sectional Wrestling Meet the host school, MFL MarMac, voluntarily donated all the money from program sales - $840 total - to the Central family who lost their home yesterday in a house fire. A huge thank you to MFL MarMac for their generosity, along with all of the contributions and support from the other schools in attendance; Starmont, Wapsie Valley, Edgewood-Colesburg, Denver, Postville, and Sumner-Fredricksburg.
Pictured here is MFL MarMac Activity Directors Dave Corlett and Eric Peterson and MFL MarMac wrestling coach Chet Bachman presenting the money to Central Coach Joe Koehn.

Repurposing Old Band Uniforms:
Central's old band uniforms are finding new life as quilt batting thanks to the Bethany Church Quilting Group. Rather than dispose of the uniforms in the trash, they were donated to be made into quilts that will be sent to countries in need around the world. Any material not used in the quilting process is donated to Goodwill who sells the material to businesses that use the scraps for various purposes. Way to divert waste from the landfill while creating a useful product.
