Upcoming Warrior Events for the Week!

Last week, we had five - 4th grade students perform a reader's theatre entitled "Long Days, Long Nights" for their classmates. They learned about the hard lives of adults and children working in factories and mines during the Industrial Revolution.

Congratulations to our Worthy Warriors for the week! Worthy Warriors are selected each week kindergarten through fifth grade. Students chosen have gone above and beyond in showing our Caring, Commitment, and Safety expectations. Keep up the great work...and GO WARRIORS!

This week's Mrs. Gray's Preschool classroom visited Jenni Francis at A Little Off the Top hair salon. This field trip was connected to the dramatic play center where students learned about the tools used, basic hair care as well as services offered in a salon.

March 15th marks the annual day to celebrate some true MVP’s of the education world. Help us shine some light and share some love for these ladies, as they often are the first educators our students are exposed to when entering school. They lead the school world for our youngest Warriors, providing love and guidance in one of the most crucial elements of a student’s development. Thank you, Mrs. Erickson, Mrs. Gray and Miss Welch for all you do on a daily basis for so many of our kiddos here at Central! They are lucky to have you… and so are we!

Preschool and Junior Kindergarten celebrated their 100th day of school by making a "100" cake and other activities incorporating the numbers to 100!

As Central Warriors, we bleed red and white… but next Thursday, we are asking for all Central students and staff to wear BLUE & YELLOW and to ROCK your SOCKS to help us celebrate and spread awareness on World Down Syndrome Day.
March 21st (also known as 3-21) is a day set aside to help educate individuals on Trisomy 21: 3 copies of the 21st chromosomes = the 21st day of the 3rd month. There are four different types of Down Syndrome. Trisomy 21 accounts for 95% of all Down Syndrome diagnosis.
Blue and yellow represent the colors for Down Syndrome Awareness and crazy, silly, mismatched socks look like chromosomes. Please join us next Thursday, wearing blue and yellow and your favorite socks to celebrate this amazing young lady we are blessed to know and spend the days with at Central!

Congratulations to our Worthy Warriors for the week! Worthy Warriors are selected each week kindergarten through fifth grade. Students chosen have gone above and beyond in showing our Caring, Commitment, and Safety expectations. Keep up the great work...and GO WARRIORS!

Second grade finished their last junior achievement with Peggy Schilling today. They had so much fun learning about community and government services and their responsibilities as citizens. Thank you Peggy for teaching us so many new things!!

The February Fine Arts Student of the Month is described as a student who “never has a negative attitude and always works hard.” In addition to working hard, this student is very reliable, accepts critiques from adults, and works to implement those suggestions to improve. Recent performances at District Speech were the best performances of their career, qualifying them to State Speech. Finally, in the 6 years I have been at Central, nobody has sung more National Anthems solo than this young man! The February Fine Arts Student of the Month is Maxwell Schantz.

The February Student-Athlete of the Month is described as someone who has put the time into other sports during the offseason, as well as an emphasis on the weight room, allowing them to show up to the first practice in good physical condition. Coaches described this student-athlete as someone who, “gives their best effort all of the time, whether it is a practice drill or a game. They are consistently early to practice and open gyms, as well as the first person done when the team does sprints.” This student-athlete is known for making big plays during the biggest moments of close games this season. Their team first attitude has stood out all season, whether it be playing JV or Varsity games, this student-athlete is always willing to do what is best for the team. Intrinsic motivation, understanding what it truly takes to be great, and a commitment to that process has put this student-athlete in a position to be successful. The February Student-Athlete of the Month is Owen Hammersland.

Thank you to all who came out for Parent-Teacher Conferences so far. We look forward to seeing many more of you tomorrow night.
A Warrior Reminder: Central will dismiss early on Thursday at 1:45 and there is NO SCHOOL on Friday!

Central Warriors have been taking full advantage of the nicer temps. Today, students left a little art around on the sidewalks for all to enjoy this week!

Congratulations to the Central Wrestling Program on great seasons and to Reese Berns, Mayleigh Medberry, Taylor Moser, Braxton Bormann, Preston Kulper and Jonah Burns on your UIC Nominations. Way to go, Warriors!
