This year, Central's 7-12 assemblies have a heavy emphasis about being WORTHY! Finding and appreciating the value within ourselves and others.
March's "Worthy Wednesday" assembly theme was about "March into Motivation" and learning about Enneagrams [personality types] to gain a better understanding of your areas of weakness to help you take advantage of and utilize your strengths as we head into the home stretch of our school year for a strong finish!
The senior class was our "Price is Right" game show prize winners for some extra fun and activities at school which include: an ice cream social, Pedretti's before class, being 1st to lunch for the whole month, and ending the month with a trip to the Elkader Cinema for a movie showing.
Our 3 worthy warrior winners are pictured here!
These students regularly follow and act according to Central's CCS [Caring, Committed, Safety] guidelines for making positive choices. Throughout the month, they are nominated by teachers and from the list of nominations, 1 winner is randomly selected from each grade category. The 3 winning students receive a prize package for their excellence, and every student on the list receives a piece of "Werther's" candy and a WORTHY sticker.
7/8 - Blair Scherf
9/10 - Rayanne Dunlap
11/12 - Alyssa Schmitt

Dear Parents/Guardians,
We have seen scattered cases of Conjunctivitis (also known as pink eye) throughout the school in the last couple of weeks, but significantly higher cases this week. Pink eye is a highly contagious illness of the eye(s). We are asking that you take a minute each morning to assess your children. If you notice any of the following, please keep your child home from school:
-Red, blood-shot eye(s)
-Yellow or green drainage or dried matter in or around the eye(s)
-Itching or burning in the eye(s)
-Pain or swelling around the eyes (usually from itching or rubbing the eye(s))
If your child has any of these symptoms, he/she could have pink eye and your family provider should be to be contacted to set up an evaluation/treatment.
How can you help control the spread?
-Careful and thorough hand washing before and after touching the eyes, nose, and mouth.
-Careful disinfection of objects that are commonly touched by hands or faces such as table, doorknobs, telephones, and toys.
-People with white or yellow discharge or significant redness should see their healthcare provider for assessment before returning to school. Students with bacterial conjunctivitis may return to school after a full 24 hours on antibiotics. Viral conjunctivitis may return upon provider’s discretion, usually after the acute stage.
If you have any questions, feel free to contact me,
Thanks for your help in assisting with prevention of illness in our children,
Meghan Bergan, BSN, RN
