Select junior high members had a blast performing at the Tri-State Honor Band in Decorah on Saturday! It was a day filled with learning and tons of music making. It is exciting to see the dedication and hard work of our musicians!

Central Community School District is very fortunate to have three fantastic custodians on staff and our Head of Maintenance title belongs to Mr. Eric Bond. Mr. Bond is most definitely an unsung hero in the school. From the countless calls he receives daily, “Office to Eric” with unexpected surprises, messy clean-ups, and interruptions, he wears many hats throughout the day. With the custodial staff under his belt, throw in 485 students, 80+ staff members, 40+ coaches, two school buildings, grounds, and our sports complexes, it’s safe to say, Mr. Bond has zero downtime, and we greatly appreciate all the hard work he puts into keeping Central what it is! Thank you, Mr. Bond… We appreciate YOU!
Central had four middle school students compete at AAU Girls State in Cedar Rapids this weekend. Tenley Bormann and Mylee Mueller both placed seventh in their bracket. Kendall Wagner placed eighth while Ella Frieden was one match away from placing. Nice work, Warriors!
School Social Workers are in a league of their own. Tomorrow kicks off National School Social Worker Week and a continued month of appreciation for our own Family Liaison doesn’t seem like enough. Mrs. Heather Lechtenberg serves as Central’s School Social Worker. The dedication and support that she provides to our students and Warrior Families is beyond amazing. Tireless work, providing guidance, kindness and love in often challenging situations is part of the daily grind.

The bench is on display in Central's Business Office and if you are interested in placing a bid, you may drop off or mail your sealed bid. All bids are due by Monday, March 18th - 10:00 am.

Central has six junior high students attending an honor band at the Decorah High School tomorrow. The concert is at 5pm with a $3 admission for adults, $2 for students, or $10 for a family pass. If you are in the area, feel free to come support our band students and listen to some awesome music!
Registration Night will be held on Tuesday, March 12 (during Parent-Teacher Conferences). We will have two sessions, 5:30-6:20 and 6:30-7:20. We will meet in the High School Media Center and no registration for the event is required. The purpose of this event is to share information on high school course opportunities for students in grades 9-12. We will cover graduation requirements, course registration details, four-year planning information, college courses, and special programs (NICC career pathway certificates, On-the-Job Training, etc.). Parents/Guardians of incoming freshmen have found this to be particularly beneficial, but each year we have families from all grades (7-11) attend.

The 2024 Spring Parent-Teacher Conferences are scheduled for Tuesday, March 12th from 3:30 to 7:30 p.m. and Thursday, March 14th from 2:00 to 7:30 p.m. at Central School. All parents & guardians of preschool through 12th grade students can schedule their conferences using the Conference Scheduler in the JMC family portal.
Please note:
- Conferences will take place in the teachers' classrooms.
- Each conference will be limited to 15 minutes in the elementary and 10 minutes in the junior-senior high school to ensure there are enough times available for all parents and guardians to schedule conference times. If you believe more time may be needed to discuss your child's progress, feel free to email your child's teacher(s).
- If you have more than one child who has the same teacher, sign up for only one 10 or 15 minute time slot. You will be able to visit with the teacher about all your children during this time.
- Parents and guardians are not required to sign up for every teacher their child has. Feel free to only schedule times with those teachers you would most like to discuss your child's progress with.
- At the junior-senior high school level, both 1st and 2nd semester teachers are listed in the conference scheduler. For some students, their teachers change from 1st to 2nd semester. Please go to Schedule under Academics on the left navigation menu in your JMC portal to find your child's class schedule for the 1st semester.
To schedule conference times:
1. Log into your JMC Family portal -- https://central.onlinejmc.com/Parent/
*The parent-teacher conference scheduler is not available in the JMC mobile app
*If you can't remember your username or password, check the Change Password box or click on Forgot Password or Forgot Username
2. Choose Teacher Conference Scheduler on the left navigation menu
3. Select a date on the Conference Day drop-down menu
*If you are using Safari and the conference scheduler window opens to a blank page, switch to Google Chrome or Firefox to schedule your conferences
4. Select a time for each teacher using the Appointment Time drop-down menu
*Time slots already reserved will be shaded in gray and can't be selected

During today's Advisory, students that were interested in being a part of the Central Golf team met with Coach Ryan Burke and Coach Tony Smith. Over 40 students showed up! Now that is exciting!!!
Preschool and Junior Kindergarten students visited the Elkader Vet Clinic to learn how to care for animals. Students then brought their knowledge back to the classroom for the vet dramatic play center. Thank you to the Vet Clinic for your community connection!
