Just a reminder, as we are just two weeks away from Thanksgiving Break.
Central will have school on Wednesday, November 22, with a 1:45 Dismissal.

The October Student-Athlete of the Month is described by coaches as a “consummate team player who never misses a practice.” This student-athlete is known as someone who trains year round, and is very visible throughout the summer preparing for the season. Within the team you will always hear this person encouraging others to succeed and you will never hear this person complain at practice. To summarize this person and the personality - you will not hear them talk, but you will see them work. The October Student-Athlete of the Month is Jaydin Dettman.

The October Fine Arts Student of the Month is described as, “Very reliable, super excited about the fall play, and has maintained a positive attitude throughout the rehearsal season. What sets this student apart is the dedication to learn numerous lines right away, early arrival and also stays after practice to help out where needed. This student volunteered to create props and paint the flats for the set, which was done quickly and without having to be reminded. Leadership roles include offering suggestions for improvement and encouraging other cast mates. Not only does this student have great ambition and desire to perform well, they go above and beyond with the selection and completion of art projects and takes advantage of extra art opportunities. This student has grown tremendously in the performance and visual arts.” The October Fine Arts Student of the Month is Alexis Thiese.

Today, Central Preschool Teachers made it possible for staff members to order lunch out, in order to participate in a local fundraising event for one of our own students. Chelsea Hanson of TD’s Sports Bar & Grill is giving 10% of sales made through tomorrow to the family of Central Third Grader, Eli Belser to help with expenses as he enters his latest battle. Thank you Central Preschool Teachers and most especially to Chelsea and the staff at TD’s!

One week from today, this year's fall production will hold the first of three performances.
A few thoughts from the Director....
"I'm really glad I decided to do this particular show. As soon as I told students we would be doing The Brothers Grimm Spectaculathon, they were super excited. And now 8 weeks worth of rehearsals later, they are still excited. The show is very entertaining and side-splittingly funny!! It is a retelling of the fairy tales but not in the way we are used to seeing them. It's very fast-paced, colorful, and often ridiculous. The cast and crew have been working very hard and I feel we are way ahead of where we usually are at this point. It's been fun watching the students learn and grow and will prove to be worth the time and money to see. I have thoroughly enjoyed directing it. The Brothers Grimm is the 16th play I have directed for Central and it is with mixed emotions that I announce it is also my last. I'm hanging up my director's chair."

One more stop for Central's Student Council members before returning to school... as they helped remove the temporary fencing at the football field. Thank you for all of your hard work today!!!

The Iowa DOT has an ongoing partnership with the citizens of Iowa to help maintain the appearance of our roadsides throughout the state. The Adopt-A-Highway program also helps increase public awareness of environmental needs along Iowa highways by making sections of roadsides available for adoption.
This morning, members of Central’s Student Council helped with highway cleanup on Highway 56, five miles west of Elkader. They participate in the program twice each school year. Nice work, Warriors!

Take advantage of this great opportunity while shopping in Elkader.... and help raise money for Central's Post Prom! It's a WIN, WIN!
