The latest from the elementary art world. Just loving all their fantastic creations!
•1st grade just finished their stick birdies using analogous colors.🐦⬛
•3rd grade is wrapping up their warm and cool color study with some boho inspired suns and moons.🌞🌑
•5th/6th grade are busy and focused on their superhero grid drawings. An extra challenging project yet they’re doing an amazing job!🦸
In between direct instructed projects, students get the chance to work on choice-based art centers and visual journals to allow for some open-ended, child-led, authentic creativity.
All artwork can be found on Artsonia:

The October Student-Athlete of the Month is described by coaches as a “consummate team player who never misses a practice.” This student-athlete is known as someone who trains year round, and is very visible throughout the summer preparing for the season. Within the team you will always hear this person encouraging others to succeed and you will never hear this person complain at practice. To summarize this person and the personality - you will not hear them talk, but you will see them work. The October Student-Athlete of the Month is Jaydin Dettman.

The October Fine Arts Student of the Month is described as, “Very reliable, super excited about the fall play, and has maintained a positive attitude throughout the rehearsal season. What sets this student apart is the dedication to learn numerous lines right away, early arrival and also stays after practice to help out where needed. This student volunteered to create props and paint the flats for the set, which was done quickly and without having to be reminded. Leadership roles include offering suggestions for improvement and encouraging other cast mates. Not only does this student have great ambition and desire to perform well, they go above and beyond with the selection and completion of art projects and takes advantage of extra art opportunities. This student has grown tremendously in the performance and visual arts.” The October Fine Arts Student of the Month is Alexis Thiese.

A great evening was had Friday at the NEIA HS Artshow. ArtHaus in Decorah put on a fantastic opening reception for the surrounding area student artists. 4 of the 6 Central student exhibitors were able to make the trip to view the gallery and answer questions other visitors had about their artwork. A successful show called for dinner at Mabe’s!
Congratulations again to
Micah Hughes, Mia Stone, Alexis Thiese, and Audrey Palas.
