Central's Clayton County BEST in partnership with Clayton County Development Group is excited to launch a series of informational programs for Central students called "In the Know in the Nook".
This new program will focus on educating students on employment opportunities after high school. "In the Know in the Nook" will be a take on the college representative visits that have occurred in high schools for decades. This program will give local employers the same opportunity to talk directly to students about the variety of careers available right here in Clayton County.
Often county residents are unaware of the vast assortment of global employment opportunities available right here at home. While many do not require post-secondary schooling or have help available for students to pay for the training they need, many also have opportunities awaiting students after a college degree.
At “In the Know in the Nook,” students will have the opportunity to speak directly with people from a local business or industry in a small group setting to learn more about what they have to offer.
Please encourage your high school students to stop down in the Nook in the cafeteria on Wednesdays during 5th period or lunch (11:15-12:15). There will be information set up all week in the Nook for both students and community members to look at but a representative from the business will be there personally to talk to students on Wednesdays.
We are going to kick off out presentations with a visit from PATTISON SAND COMPANY on December 8th.
This is a great opportunity for students to explore their options and for Clayton County to continue to grow and thrive using our homegrown talent.
Thank you to the many great businesses for their support!

A big thank you to Brown’s Family of Car Dealerships for supporting our student-of-the-month program. Each month we recognize one student-athlete and one Fine Arts student for individual character and habits that lead to success.
The November Student-Athlete of the Month is described as, “an easy selection due to their work ethic in the sport so far this season as well as the off-season.” The coach added, “energy this student-athlete brings to practice is a must have that makes the rest of the team better.” Since last season this student-athlete has improved as an individual which has given the team better options and improved our opportunity for success. After two years of being a leader by example, she has also become a vocal leader that understands the importance of communication on defense. She is a student of the game who has put in a lot of time watching film on the opponents. Recently in a big game on Rivalry Saturday at Kirkwood, this hard work paid off in key moments that led to a big win. This success was reflective of mental preparation throughout the season. Finally, her drive to make her teammates better in practice, dedication to the mental aspect of basketball, and competitiveness in competition are why she has been selected as the student-athlete of the month. The November Student-Athlete of the Month is Delaney Scherf.
The November Fine Arts Student of the Month is described by the coaches as pleasant to work with and very dependable. This student is very coachable and open to suggestions from others. During the fall play, they were very reliable for both communication and diligent focus during rehearsals both on and offstage. They learned their lines in a timely way and were supportive of their classmates during the process. They have also shown much improvement and displayed a major growth in talent throughout the rehearsal process of the play. The November Fine Arts Student of the Month is Aly Feickert.
