The Central Spanish Club just returned from their week long trip to Costa Rica. Some of the highlight’s included taking a Latin dance class, Arenal Hot Springs, a night hike in the cloud forest, snorkeling, and time on Isla Tortuga.




Central Community FFA Floriculture CDE team spent their morning at the Elkader Floral Shop learning how to conquer their team event portion where they make floral arrangements! Thank you Janis and Jane for teaching these FFA members today!

Mrs. Patenaude, a 7-12 English teacher at Central, was awarded the secondary building's Masonic Lodge Teacher of the Year award for the 2021-2022 school year. Numerous seniors identified Mrs. Patenaude this year as the teacher who has had the most significant impact on them during their time at Central. Mrs. Patenaude was also a leader of Friday's professional development for classroom instruction.

Mrs. Wiley, a first-grade teacher at Central, was awarded the elementary building's Masonic Lodge Teacher of the Year award. Mrs. Wiley led the search for Central's new math curriculum as well as being a teacher leader and participated on the building leadership team during the 2021-2022 school year.

Students in grades 9-12 and parents with students in grades 9-12, please take the time to complete the Central CTE survey sent to your email. Completing this survey will give us better insight into our parents' and students' understanding of career and technical education and the workplace skills you believe are needed to be successful in the future.

Every year, our Elementary staff votes on two 5th grade students who have shown outstanding qualities in the classroom over their elementary school career to receive the Central Elementary Merit Award. Congratulations to this years' winners, Daniel Whittle and Carlie Bergan!
Summer Fun!

Students learned how to make vegetable stir fry, ramen & lo mein noodles, & Crab Rangoon on the last day of school. They also cooked chicken, pork meatballs & learned how to use chopsticks!




For the first time in Central history we had two students who took the Spanish AAPPL test this month and we are very proud to announce that both students received the State Seal Of Biliteracy! Knowing and being able to use more than one language is a valuable skill in today’s world. Congratulations to Brandy Beatty and Brayden Finley for achieving this honor!

The May Fine Arts Student of the Month is described by their coaches as polite, open-minded, helpful, willing to try new things, supportive of others, and striving to do their best. This student works hard in multiple areas of the fine arts. They have been a leader by showing their own personal development, stepping up when others were gone, showing up to nearly every rehearsal or communicating if they will be gone, and being a developing leader. Despite having a busy schedule with athletics, this student has demonstrated a passion for Fine Arts and working on figuring out the best way to be involved in both. The May Fine Arts Student of the Month is Eva Embretson.

The May Student-Athlete of the Month is described by coaches as someone who has “been dedicated the entire season in improving in the five Strength & Conditioning domains that are the foundation of our Building Bridges model. This student-athlete regularly displays the character traits associated with success such as teamwork, respect, work ethic, humility, effort, manners, volunteerism, and they are also a four-sport athlete. The trait that stands out the most is the courage and grit that is needed to lead off 3 relays as a freshmen at the recent state qualifying meet. This level of grit helped two of those relays qualify for the state track & field meet. The May Student-Athlete of the Month is Tori Sylvester.
