Commencement 2021

Three Central Community FFA members had the opportunity to teach 4th graders from three local schools about lawn mower safety! They enjoyed the opportunity!

The Central phone lines are back on. Have a great day!
The Central phone lines are currently down. Please email awalch@central.k12.ia.us (7-12) or sburke@central.k12.ia.us (PS-6) for assistance.
The Spanish 3 and 4 students enjoyed practicing their Spanish while eating at Acapulco in Prairie du Chien today for Cinco de Mayo.

The Hanging Gardens of Ancient Mesopotamia recreated in Central's 6th grade. These gardens were the first type of garden to be created for enjoyment purposes and not food production. Students designed their garden's shape, etched designs in foam, stacked their shapes, painted a sand mixture on top of the foam. Then students added flowers and greenery.

Central's 6th grade had a video visitor during Social Studies class. Sixth grade has been studying North and Sorth Korea and we thought we should get some first hand knowledge of what it is like in South Korea. Students wrote up to 3 questions each, we emailed them to Mr. Derek Bergan (currently teaching at Daegu Internation School),who videoed answers and sent the video back to us. We are hoping to add to our interaction with South Korea by sending videos back and forth with his 7th grade class with student-to-student quesitons. (picture only--not full video)

Special thanks to United States Senator Chuck Grassley who visited with Social Studies and #ClaytonCountyBEST students today at Central. Students were able to ask Senator Grassley questions about issues important to them. Students asked about college debt, health care, agriculture prices, gun control, minimum wage and more. Thank you, Senator Grassley for the work you do for Iowans and taking the time to visit with young people.

Join us this evening for Senior Awards!

Third graders have been as busy as bees lately. Here they are learning about pollination and how important bees are in this process. Their "pollen" was cinnamon and coffee and they had fun making sure the "pollen" went from one flower to another.

Students in 6th grade have been learning about Ancient Mesopotamia and the beginning of writing (cuneiform writing.) Symbols for sounds. Students designed their own cuneiform alphabet and practiced writing messages for classmates to solve. Today students were scribes and carved a message onto a clay tablet.

Thank you to all of the Central Teachers who help our students to dream big!
