The final week before Winter Break at Central will bring a little fun to our school days. Take note: Winter Dress Up Days posted here! Start planning now for next Monday!

A reminder that today is the last day to turn in items for the Holiday Food Drive! If you plan to attend tonight's elementary music concert, please consider contributing to the cause if you are able.

Congratulations to these Worthy Warriors for the week of December 4-8. Keep up the great work! 🥳👍🥳

Central Elementary’s Kindergarten – 6th Grade Winter Concert will be held TONIGHT! This year’s guest seating will be larger than last year and the event will be livestreamed for those friends and family that are not able to make it. Please take note, this concert is the first fine arts event we are testing as a livestreaming event from Hudl, a sports video management system that we use for athletics. When searching on Hudl, you will find the event under Mens Varsity Basketball or you may follow the link here: https://fan.hudl.com/usa/ia/elkader/organization/19924/central-high-school/watch?ib=833643

The past few years, we have put a heavy emphasis on building stronger relationships at Central. With many new faces this year, we would like to tell you a little about some new members of our team.
Miss MacKenzie Swales was hired for the 2023-2024 school year as a Paraprofessional. She not only works helping educate our students, but is working on continuing her own education while working at Central. Please help us give a warm welcome to Miss MacKenzie Swales.

Upcoming Warrior Events for the week!

Tomorrow night, the high school boys wrestling will be heading to Springville! GO WARRIORS!!!

5th graders studied pond ecosystems, and the importance that each organism contributes to the sustainability of the pond! Algae Blooms are taking over lakes due to fertilizer run-off. Students teamed up to beat the algae with preventative projects like cleaning up after pets, keeping storm drains clean and planting plants along the waters edge.

5th graders celebrated Computer Science Week! They were graphic designers and learned how to layer, resize, and practice depth proportions to give their scene a 3-D look! They did great and I think we have potential designers here!

The Kindergarten classes took a walk today to thank our Junior Achievement representative, Danielle Shea, for her time. They learned so much!

We are pleased to announce Coach Don Showalter will be visiting Central in January. Coach Showalter has been coaching for over 42 years and is a nine-time USA Basketball Developmental Coach of the Year winner. He served as head basketball coach at Central from 1976-1984 before moving on to coach across the state and country, earning many prestigious awards, recognitions, and honors throughout the years. Coach Showalter’s success on the international stage has led him to being a leading clinic speaker. He currently splits his quieter years between Iowa City and Colorado Springs with his wife and will make a trip to visit Elkader next month. We are excited to have him back for a visit and look forward to having one of the greats of Iowa’s high school basketball at Central.

Madrigal spent the evening singing at Osbourne for their annual holiday walk. Their performance was a testament to the excellence and pride they bring to Central's vocal department. Thank you Madrigal!

Looking ahead.... Christmas Break for the Warriors will start at 1:45 on Friday, December 22.

The Central Boys Wrestling Team is heading to Nashua Plainfield Saturday morning. If you are looking for something to do, they would appreciate your support!

Central Preschoolers took time out to personally say THANK YOU to two of our custodians this afternoon, presenting them with some specially baked treats. We do love our custodians and can't imagine a school day without them in the building!

When an extra hand is needed, sometimes even the SUPERintendent has to step in!
