Students in Central's Clayton County BEST program are working to restore Central's prairie patch. This is located along the river by our playground. On Monday the spot was burned and mowed in preparation for seeding this winter. Thanks to all who helped with this project!

5th graders in science are creating mold terrariums with 1 variable. What would happen if there weren't any decomposers or fungi? What slows the growth of mold, or speeds it up? Students tried cinnamon, minced garlic, milk, lemon juice and more! They are enjoying tracking their mold growth and learning how it fits into our ecosystem!

Today is World Kindness Day and what better way to start the week than by doing something to make your school a kinder place! Kindness has an impact on everyone, most especially children and their wellbeing. School days can be stressful for both students and staff, but kindness can make all the difference. Being affected by kindness makes people feel happier and more connected. Happiness helps reduce stress, feelings of anxiety and helps protects our mental health. When kindness is practiced on a regular basis, it becomes routine and helps create a more positive school environment. Kindness starts right here, here at Central… and with YOU! What can YOU do today to make someone’s world a little brighter?

The latest from the elementary art world. Just loving all their fantastic creations! •1st grade just finished their stick birdies using analogous colors.🐦‍⬛ •3rd grade is wrapping up their warm and cool color study with some boho inspired suns and moons.🌞🌑 •5th/6th grade are busy and focused on their superhero grid drawings. An extra challenging project yet they’re doing an amazing job!🦸 In between direct instructed projects, students get the chance to work on choice-based art centers and visual journals to allow for some open-ended, child-led, authentic creativity. All artwork can be found on Artsonia: https://www.artsonia.com/schools/school.asp?id=34944
